CKT awards 2026 UCC LLM Children’s Right and Family Law Scholarship

CKT is pleased to share that Heather Lees is the recipient of the 2026 Comyn Kelleher Tobin LLP Scholarship for the UCC LLM in Children’s Rights and Family Law.

Established in 2021, this scholarship supports postgraduate students pursuing advanced study in this specialised and evolving area of law. It reflects our continued commitment to fostering talent and supporting the development of future lawyers with expertise in child and family law.

Heather was presented with the award at a ceremony in University College Cork attended by Professor Conor O’Mahony, Dean of the School of Law, and Professor Thia Hennessy, Head of the College of Business and Law. Alison Kelleher, Partner at CKT, was delighted to attend the event and congratulate Heather on behalf of the firm.

Separately, Sinéad Fitzgerald, Partner in CKT’s Child Care Department, met with Heather and Professor Louise Crowley of the School of Law, UCC to personally acknowledge Heather’s achievement on receiving the scholarship.

The LLM in Children’s Rights and Family Law at UCC is the first course of its kind in Ireland. It offers students a unique opportunity to engage with real-world legal issues through interaction with practitioners and participation in initiatives such as the Child Law Clinic. This practical focus closely aligns with CKT’s approach to delivering strategic and informed legal advice in pursuant to The Child Care Act and family law matters.

CKT congratulates Heather on this significant achievement and wishes her every success in her future career.

Our ongoing partnership with University College Cork reflects our commitment to supporting legal education and helping to bridge the gap between academic study and professional practice.
