Experience

Alison is a Partner in the Healthcare and Litigation Departments specialising in the defence of professional and clinical negligence proceedings with particular experience in defending high value contentious disputes in the High Court. She advises both Public and Private Health Service providers on a range of specialist disciplines including child protection, mental health, patient capacity, regulatory issues and data protection.

A strong advocate for use of ADR and in particular mediation to resolve complex disputes, Alison is a member of the Law Society of Ireland’s ADR Committee and was the  Committee Chair from 2020 – 2022. She is also both a Lecturer and Examiner on Law Society’s Diploma in Healthcare Law.

Alison is a CEDR Accredited Mediator and previously practised in London with Weightmans LLP in the area of clinical negligence.

She has provided extensive training for clients on anticipated reform dispute resolution in Ireland and support to members of the Judicial Working Group on Medical Negligence and the Law Society’s Working Group on Medical Negligence.

Alison was the lead partner in the defence of the HSE in the landmark case of Ruth Morrissey v HSE and Ors and is a pragmatic, straight talking trusted advisor to her clients. Clients describe her as “an excellent lawyer” with “considered judgement” and “wise counsel”.
