CKT fund family law scholarship at UCC

The Comyn Kelleher Tobin (CKT) Scholarship

CKT are delighted to support one postgraduate student on the LLM Childrens’ Rights and Family Law at UCC for the academic year 2021 – 2022.

University College Cork and CKT have had a long-standing partnership going back many years. In our Cork office alone, 75% of our solicitors are UCC graduates. At CKT, we are committed to nurturing the next generation of high-achieving talent and thus supporting that talent through our partnership with UCC is and has always been very important to us.

Speaking about the scholarship Denise Kirwan, Child and Family Law Partner, CKT said:

“We are excited to work with the School of Law and the Child Law Clinic, UCC in supporting students to pursue this innovative programme specialising in child and family law in an Irish and international context. The course gives students a rare insight into various aspects of the law in action by engaging with social workers, legal professionals and other experts. This approach ties-in well with CKT’s focus on providing strategic legal advice in the area of child and family law”.

The LLM Children’s Rights and Family Law is the first course of its kind in Ireland and builds on the School of Law’s wide range of expertise and knowledge in the area of child and family law. Students gain a unique specialisation in legal issues relating to children and the family, including family property, children’s rights and juvenile justice. They are also offered the opportunity to work on real cases and lobby for reform through the Child Law Clinic, allowing them to gain practical experience and develop industry contacts.
