Tusla and An Garda Síochána Joint Working Forum
To encourage and support collaboration between the State’s key agencies for child protection, Tusla – the Child and Family Agency and An Garda Síochána, a Joint Working Forum was held on Tuesday, 3rd December 2019 in Rochestown Park Hotel.
Facilitated by Karen O Mahony, Children First Implementation Officer and Sergeant Roisin O Dea, the seminar saw panel discussions on some of the key issues facing the agencies in the Cork. Topic discussed included the thresholds for reporting physical abuse, children missing from care protocol, underage sexual activity and retrospective disclosures and how to handle such issues in accordance with the Child Care Act 1991, the Child and Family Agency Act 2013 and the Garda Síochána Act 2005.
Speakers included Comyn Kelleher Tobin’s Denise Kirwan who spoke on the Victims of Crime Act 2017 with a focus on the protections available for children.
