Mediation Awareness Week 2019
In association with Mediation Awareness Week, which took place 7th to 12th October 2019, Yvonne Joyce, Partner at CKT, spoke to UCC Law Students on the topic “Mediation instead of Litigation?”.
The talk focused on the positive benefits of mediation, how it can be utilised to resolve disputes and the obligations of a solicitor under the Mediation Act 2017.
Mediation is now enshrined in Irish Law. It is a successful and cost-effective alternative to going to Court. It saves time, money and relationships. Mediators do not make decisions or judgments, instead they quickly and expertly help people in conflict to reach their own agreement together. In Ireland mediation is becoming more and more the ‘go to’ process for resolving disputes and conflicts.
Mediation Awareness Week highlights the benefits of this highly effective process and the opportunity it offers to resolve conflict.
