Judge Olann Kelleher honoured at UCC’s Alumni Achievement Awards

Congratulations to Judge Olann Kelleher who will be honoured at UCC's Alumni Achievement Awards on Friday 30th November for his contribution to UCC Rugby Club.

A Founding Partner of Comyn Kelleher Tobin, solicitors he has seen significant success in both the legal world and his sporting career. He has played cricket for Munster and was a member of the UCC team that won the Fresher’s Soccer Inter-varsity. However, it was on the rugby pitch that Olann’s talents really shone.

He was part of the legendary Munster Rugby squad that beat the All Blacks in 1978 and was a member of the UCC Senior Team that won the Munster Senior League and All Ireland Trophy in 1974. He was also the selector for Munster when they beat Australia in Musgrave Park in 1992. Other rugby accolades include terms as Captain and President of Dolphin RFC and as President of UCC RFC. He has coached and managed teams with UCC as well as serving on the Rugby Club Management committee. He has served with distinction as President of the Club from 2015-16 and 2016-17.

UCC's Alumni Achievement Awards are among the highest honours that UCC can bestow on alumni and recognise those who have achieved outstanding success in their chosen fields.

This year’s recipients include 104-year-old Mairín Hughes, who graduated with a BSc and HDE from UCC in the 1930’s, Ireland's professor of poetry Eiléan Ni Chuilleanáin, editor-in-chief of Glamour, one of the world's biggest fashion and beauty media brands, Samantha Barry and Barry O'Sullivan, managing director of Palo Alto Technology Partners.
