Barry Kelleher completes Diploma in Education Law

Barry Kelleher, Solicitor, Comyn Kelleher Tobin has successfully completed a Diploma in Education Law at the Law Society of Ireland. Barry completed his traineeship with CKT in 2016 having worked in both the Cork and Dublin offices and now practises in the firm’s Litigation and Healthcare and Medical Law departments.

Barry’s completion of the Diploma in Education Law further strengthens his capabilities in advising on a wide range of matters including issues related to child protection, school structures and governance arrangements, and higher, further, and adult education.

The practice of education law encompasses a diverse range of potential practice areas including employment law, equality law, conflict resolution, corporate governance, child protection and litigation. Added to this complexity of potential legal issues is the fact that, in order to provide effective and informed solutions, those advising in education law disputes also need to understand the governance and decision-making structures that apply within the particular school or Higher Education organisation.

Barry, who sits on the Southern Law Association Council, recently provided an insight into a recent High Court Judgement related to an application for Judicial Review of a potential secondary school expulsion which can be read on our news section.
