Diarmuid practises as a litigation dispute lawyer, employment lawyer and a specialised healthcare lawyer. He is a CEDR accredited mediator and focuses on early intervention to avoid or resolve potential claims at an early stage to avoid unnecessary costs and expenses. 

As a litigator, he advises many State Bodies and their indemnifiers as well as many national and international insurers in areas of employers’ liability, public liability, maritime and property claims.

In his role as employment lawyer, Diarmuid has featured in prominent and ground-breaking cases before the Labour Court, Employment Appeals Tribunal, Equality Tribunal, Rights Commissioner and the High Court and Circuit Court. He has advised many employers in the public and private sector on the policies and procedures required to comply with the myriad of legislative obligations imposed by statute and regulations.

Diarmuid is a trusted advisor in his capacity as a healthcare lawyer. He advises on a range of specialised disciplines including disability law, mental health, patient privacy, care of the elderly and wards of court. He has appeared before various Commissions of Investigation and has provided advice to investigation teams on the implementation of the rules of natural justice and fair procedures. He has represented the HSE as a prosecuting authority in environmental health issues, tobacco prosecutions and prosecutions relating to pre-school and nursing homes.
