HeadStart – our programme of tailored advice for new business
Starting a business is exciting. There’s a lot to think about-creating a company, finding somewhere to operate, protecting your ideas, hiring employees etc. That’s why experts from across our Employment, Property and Commercial law departments have created HeadStart- our programme of tailored advice for new business.
What will it cost?
You will not be charged for an initial consultation with our HeadStart Advisor, Conor Lupton; if you decide to use the service, a fee can then be agreed for all work to be undertaken.
What do I need to decide?
Should I start a company or should I remain a sole trader for now?
We can advise you how best to structure your new business, and prepare and file the papers needed. We’ll explain your obligations as a company director, and advise you in relation to funding and tax-planning.
How do I protect my work?
Before you invest valuable resources in a business name, logo, brand or product name, we can advise you and suggest ways of protecting them for your company. We will explain how best to benefit your company using patents, copyright, trademarks and design rights.
How do I get workspace?
Rent or buy? What should my lease allow me to do? How long do I have to commit to a lease for? We will help you to establish the best and most tax-efficient premises for your business.
What do I need to know about being ‘the boss’?
Being a new employer can be daunting. Should you use contractors or hire employees? What do you do if an employee is not performing? Can you stop your best employee from moving to your competitor? Irish employment law can be complex and many pitfalls can be avoided down the road by sound advice from the outset.
Any Other Business?
Suppliers, partners, customers, distributors... You will probably be signing a lot of agreements over the coming months. Make sure you’re protected and that the person profiting most from your business is... you.
